JAMES A HAYES,
JR.
James A. Hayes, Jr. joined Cummins & White, LLP as Of Counsel in 2003 and became a partner in 2005. His practice focuses on business matters, including general counsel representation of corporations and limited liability companies, commercial law, business bankruptcy and creditor rights.
Currently he is an Associate Professor of Law at Western State University, College of Law where he has taught corporate, commercial and bankruptcy law and business law since 1994. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Hayes was Editor in Chief of the State Bar Business Law Section's Business Law News.
Mr. Hayes is a member of the State Bar of California. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California; in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, Mr. Hayes is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, Orange County Bankruptcy forum and American Bankruptcy Institute. Mr. Hayes is also appointed to the panel of bankruptcy mediators by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.
Mr. Hayes received his B.A. in Classics from University of California, Irvine (1975). Mr. Hayes received his J.D. with honors from Western State University, College of Law (1992) where he attended on full scholarship and was a member of the editorial staff of the Western State Law Review.
Mr. Hayes was born in Long Beach, California. He and his family currently reside in Dana Point, California.
